Currently under construction in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood, Yoka Tea Ballard is the second location for a Korean and Filipino specialty cafe that built its following in Madrona. Rooted in the operational realities of running a food and beverage business, the design gives function and service flow equal weight to atmosphere, organizing a compact plan around how the cafe actually works across a full day. Warm wood paneling wraps the room and meets an existing exposed brick wall, paired with a terracotta tile backsplash, integrated wine display, and a long communal table beneath paper globe and linear lighting. For La Union Studio, the project carries an established local identity into a new neighborhood, pairing a specialty coffee program with an evening wine offering in a single, flexible room.
