Our Work

Bahtoh

The goal of the project was to transform the space into an oasis of abundant plant greenery, vibe music, pop-up food programs, and a place to be comfortable.

Bahtoh is a Seattle-based boutique Japanese-Chinese and Laotian-owned floral decor and hairstyle studio with roots in the Bay Area and New York.

Inspired by the creativity that Bobbie & Michael radically explore with their craft, the goal of the project was to transform the space into an oasis of abundant plant greenery, vibe music, pop-up food programs, and a place to be comfortable. The meaning of “Bahtoh” is derived from a Laotian expression for “Wow!” or “OMG”! Wood soffiting and a subtle pop of color at the entry establishes a unique identity within Seattle’s Chinatown International District, and transforms an otherwise uniform storefront at the ground floor of the un-reinforced masonry Jackson Condominiums building. The floral program is located between the entry and the hairstyle studio, so as to cleanse the patron of theoretical toxins from the outside world and acquaint the user with natural vegetation. Take home a bouquet after you get your hair did, the multi-functional flexibility of the spaces allows for the improvisation of humanity’s innate desire for self-care and relaxation.
