Our Work

Dayton SFR + DADU

A balanced infill redevelopment in Seattle’s Maple Leaf neighborhood, the Dayton SFR + DADU project demonstrates how thoughtful design can transform a single-family lot into flexible, livable housing that responds to the region’s growing need for density.

The Dayton SFR + DADU project reimagines a modest Maple Leaf property as a flexible, future-ready two-home site—pairing a new single-family residence with a detached accessory dwelling unit to unlock the full potential of a compact urban parcel. Designed as a cohesive ensemble, the project carefully balances scale, siting, and massing to maximize natural light, usable outdoor space, and efficient interior layouts, while maintaining a calm residential presence that fits seamlessly within the surrounding neighborhood fabric.

More broadly, Dayton reflects a growing shift across Seattle toward thoughtful infill as a tool to address housing scarcity on formerly single-family residential lots. By demonstrating how density can be added without sacrificing privacy, livability, or neighborhood character, the project offers a replicable model for gentle density across the region. The result is a pair of adaptable homes that support multigenerational living, long-term value, and evolving household needs—underscoring how intentional, human-centered design can play a meaningful role in expanding housing options in the greater Seattle area. For La Union Studio, the project embodies a commitment to maximizing land use responsibly while shaping resilient residential communities.
